Code Stroke: Time is Brain

Project Description

We wrote, directed, and produced this stroke protocol video for the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada. Shot on location at Victoria General Hospital with the assistance of BC Ambulance Service and Vancouver Island Health Authority. We used real first responders and health care/stroke experts in all of these videos.

Recognizing and responding to stroke as a medical emergency is vital to arriving at the right hospital at the right time for the right treatment. Stroke experts agree that the key to a good outcome is a coordinated and efficient system necessary to minimize brain loss. Acting FAST is critical because the quicker people recognize and respond to a stroke the more of the person they save. Time is brain.

Know the signs of stroke – FAST
Face – is it drooping?
Arms – can you raise both?
Speech – is it slurred or jumbled?
Time – to call 9-1-1 or your local emergency service right away.
